Doing a painstaking ep-by-ep capping project with my Blu-Rays (will post some gallery links after they're all done/up.)
As I was capping 4x02, I stopped short on this scene, because so, so much is said without a single word.
Becker's doing some busy work...
![]()
...as Connor's leaving the ARC--possibly for good. He sees Becker sitting there...
![]()
...calmly working...
![]()
...and strolls over, hoping he'll get a chance to say goodbye.
![]()
But he's stopped short, as he sees Becker's busy...
![]()
...with Jess coming over to ask him for something.
![]()
Dejected, Connor looks away, feeling he no longer belongs here.
![]()
His team, his friends have all moved on without him.
![]()
But then! Becker looks up...
![]()
...and catches Connor's eye
![]()
Jess is confused about Becker's sudden reaction, and looks over, to see...
![]()
...the object of his longing gaze.
![]()
"Oh." She gets it.
![]()
"I'm leaving, Becks."
![]()
"I know. And that's breaking my heart."
![]()
"Mine, too. Goodbye, dear friend."
![]()
"Farewell."
![]()
"So that's why Becker doesn't return my flirting. It all makes so much sense, now."
![]()
Keeping the eye contact as long as he can, Connor turns...
![]()
...and heads off, leaving behind a sad, helpless Becker...
![]()
.
...and a girl who's suddenly realised her crush is most likely her gay BFF instead. She makes a mental note to broach the question later...

Coda:
"And if you did have one of those, it would be a girlfriend, would it?"
"..."
"Anyway..."
