Rewatching some s5 stuff for research purposes, and...
1. Jeebis, the amount of Abby/Becker moments is quite astonishing. I honestly could do a song-length vid just of those. Srsly
2. Also, he touches her constantly. Outside of a few man smacks with Matt and situation-necessary contact with others, he touches her more than anyone else. Casual, friendly, familiar touches. The kind of touches that happen when people have an established intimacy.
3. Also also, as mentioned on Tumblr, I have now given them a hybrid name: Becky. So there.
4. There's almost as much Emily/Jess as Becker/Jess. Just sayin'.
As I brought this up before: No, I don't think Abby/Becker is canonically intentional in so many words, especially not on a romantic level. But at this point, they get paired off so much for missions in canon that I think people do grok that they make a great, instinctive team. As much as I ship them (as part of my OT3), I also think it's awesome that TPTB have chosen to do a very tight, affectionate m/f pair of friends that ISN'T fucking. It's damned rare. The only other ones I can think of at the moment are Pete/Myka on W13 (though they're shipped to bits by fans), Carter/Jo on Eureka and Helen/Will on Sanctuary. Every other time you see a m/f team--whether leads or no--they eventually get saddled with romantic tension of some sort. It's quite refreshing, really, when that doesn't happen.
