In my last fandom, I wrote exactly three fics that involved women. One was a femmeslash, one involved a lesbian having sex with a gay man (long story) and the other was a MMF triad. No actual het at all, and mostly just slash as far as the eye could see (and in several different combinations of the 6 main people I wrote about.)
In this fandom? I've only written 7 fics that were entirely slash (plus my Doppelbangers, but they're kind of a thing of their own.) My boys do get it on with each other quite regularly, but there's almost always some woman involved.
This is Deeply Weird for me. Not because I'm not usually interested in women--obviously, I am!--but because I'm usually interested in more men than the two I've focused on here. I'm really not sure why the other men in this show just don't do it for me, but that's just how it's ended up. Connor, Becker and occasionally Nick are really all there is for me. I do find Sid quite hot, so I'd thought I'd do some Burton fic (and I still might) but he's just such a total villain right now it's hard to do anything other than the obvious.
I keep thinking I need to write something other than my OT3, but every time I think about pairing up one of my boys with someone else besides each other or Abby, the only option that really comes to mind is Jenny. I just don't feel it with the others. I can see some canon support for Becker/Matt, but Ciarán just doesn't push my buttons. And aside from the hero-worship thing with Nick and Burton, I just don't see Connor having that kind of chemistry with anyone else. It's not that I necessarily dislike the other male characters. They just don't work for me for various reasons. Kind of a drag, because I do wish I could branch out a little more and do more stuff that other folks might like. If I were writing genfic, I probably could, but that's not really my thing.
At this point, if I want to have one of them doing some dude other than each other, I have to do crossovers. Which I have. (And will again, if my Becker/Cardinal Hottie story ever gets off the ground.) Or RP. Which I also have. (Though may not again.)
All adds up to weird. But, ah, well. I'm enjoying what I'm writing and at least a few other folks are, too, so I may as well keep it up.
